Flexible enough for your homeschool
Keep attendance simple, even on busy days.
Mark everyone present at once
When the family shares a school day, record it once. Add individual entries only when a child’s day differs.
Choose days or hours
Track full days, half days, instructional hours, and core hours according to the approach your family uses.
Watch progress as you go
See completed attendance against the pace and annual goal you set instead of waiting until the end of the year to total it.
Keep useful context
Add notes, correct an entry, and search the dated record when you need to remember what happened on a particular day.
Simple by design
A little each day. Ready when you need it.
Attendance becomes part of the ordinary day, while the report builds quietly in the background.
Set your school year
Choose your school-year dates and whether to count days or hours. Set your own annual goal, or keep attendance without one.
Record the day
Mark the whole family or one child, then add hours or a short note when useful.
Print when needed
Create a student attendance record with totals, a monthly summary, and a dated ledger.
Attendance without the scramble
Turn daily attendance into a clear printable report.
Select a student and school year, optionally limit the date range, and generate a PDF from the attendance you already recorded.
Homeschool requirements vary by location and family. Commonplace helps organize your records but does not determine legal compliance or provide legal advice.

Common questions
Homeschool attendance, in plain language.
Can I take attendance for all my children at once?
Yes. Record a shared family day once, while still keeping the option to give an individual child a different entry.
Can I track instructional hours instead of days?
Yes. Commonplace supports day-based and hour-based attendance, including optional core-hour tracking.
Can I choose my own attendance goal?
Yes. Choose days or hours and set a goal for the school year—for example, 180 days or 900 hours. You can also track attendance without an annual goal. These are examples; choose the goal that fits your family and the guidance you follow.
Can I record a day off or add a reason?
Yes. Mark the day “Off” and add a note, such as illness or a family trip. Off days stay in the history but do not count toward instructional days or hours.
Can I correct an attendance entry later?
Yes. You can edit or remove saved entries and add a note to preserve useful context.
Does Commonplace know my state’s homeschool requirements?
No. Requirements vary, so you should rely on current official guidance for your location. Commonplace gives you flexible tools for keeping and printing the records you choose.
