Terms of Service
Clear terms for using Commonplace.
Effective date: September 11, 2026
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern access to and use of Commonplace, a homeschool planning and recordkeeping workspace provided by Commonplace Homeschool (“Commonplace,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these Terms.
1. Who may use Commonplace
Commonplace is designed for parents, guardians, and other adults managing home education. You must be legally able to enter into this agreement. Adults are responsible for the student information they add and for supervising any use by children.
2. Your account
You agree to provide accurate account information, protect your login credentials, and promptly notify us of suspected unauthorized access. You are responsible for activity under your account.
3. The service
Commonplace provides tools for planning, tracking, organizing, and exporting homeschool information. Features may evolve over time. Commonplace does not provide legal advice, guarantee compliance with any particular state’s requirements, or replace your responsibility to understand and meet the laws that apply to your family.
4. Trials, subscriptions, and billing
Eligible new customers may begin with a 14-day trial without a credit card. Paid plans are offered monthly or annually at the prices shown when you subscribe. Payments are processed by our third-party merchant of record or payment provider. Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled before the renewal date. You may cancel future renewal through your account; cancellation does not ordinarily refund charges already paid except where required by law or expressly stated at purchase.
5. Your content and records
You retain ownership of information and files you add to Commonplace. You give us a limited permission to host, process, back up, and display that content solely as needed to operate, protect, and improve the service. You represent that you have the right to provide the content you upload.
6. Acceptable use
You may not misuse the service, interfere with its operation or security, attempt unauthorized access, introduce malicious code, infringe another person’s rights, use the service for unlawful purposes, or resell access without written permission.
7. Availability and changes
We work to keep Commonplace reliable, but uninterrupted access is not guaranteed. We may maintain, update, suspend, or change parts of the service. When reasonably possible, we will provide notice of material changes that affect paid customers.
8. Ending use
You may stop using Commonplace and cancel your subscription at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for material violations of these Terms, security risks, fraud, or legal requirements. Subject to our Privacy Policy and applicable law, you may request an export or deletion of account data.
9. Disclaimers
The service is provided “as is” and “as available” to the fullest extent permitted by law. We disclaim warranties not expressly stated in these Terms, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Nothing here limits rights that cannot legally be waived.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Commonplace and its operator will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, loss of data, or lost profits arising from use of the service. Any aggregate liability will not exceed the amount you paid for the service during the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. The appropriate state or federal courts located in that state will have jurisdiction, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. If a change is material, we will provide reasonable notice through the service, by email, or on this page. Continued use after the effective date of updated Terms means you accept them.
